Death is the Black Sabbath of death metal. They weren't my introduction to death metal but they are my first love and are still in heavy rotation in my song list. The Hoglan albums were so great. It has never been done better. Melody married to chaos. RIP Chuck.

One and only time I saw Slayer was in 1985. I'd never seen or heard anything like it - from Tom first appearing on stage with his wild headbanging and THAT sound of Raining Blood... A memory worth keeping!

I couldn’t even imagine the careers and success all the metal bands that are playing nowadays would get if MTV still did this or cared. Instead, Metal bands tour and play and record relentlessly, in vans, in the middle of winter, for months on end. Then write and record everything, recording videos of playthroughs, all sorts of work that other musicians in other genres do not do at all. It’s maddening but hey, all for the music. Just sucks that they can’t make a living off of it anymore.

Cannibal Corpse honestly saved my mind, I always find it hard explaining it to people in person so I thought Id comment my journey to some fellow neck destroyers... This band gives me an escape of Atmospheric Horror where no regular person will follow in this generation, but most importantly I myself was Horrified of Chris and his lyrics ahaha, this concert was when I first saw him and the band, and it was still as horrifying as the album covers and songs, except they looked like Obituary and Death etc, no special lights or outfits, no Satan worshipping, no vocal and Guitar effects, It's just pure brutal Extreme Metal. Jack Owen was the reason I got addicted to this band, his Live and studio tone on every album is just perfect, Paul is the most tasteful speed drummer I've heard till this day and it wont change. Alex's stage presence alone is a big reason why I couldn't stop watching, he also accepts being a true bassist filling the room yet also shines as a complete virtuoso like the others. I love Bobs work but of course I saw Rob first, Rob unlike Jack to me had a very Mysterious stage presence, I remember thinking he looked very sinister, I give a lot of credit to Rob for my constant addiction for this band, his head banging and Jeff Hanneman style guitar instantly made him stand out to me, total badass. Now Mr Barnes, the interesting mind had of course an even more interesting stage presence, hidden under a mask of hair his sheer vocal power sent chills through me constantly, and it still does, truly one of the most brutal Death Metal vocalist and Lyricists ever. 2 years ago I didn't understand the band and was always put off from the early stuff, forever was I mad that I was missing out on one of the most addictive, enjoyable, brutal, terrifying, Death Metal bands ever. I like Corpse Grinder Era but Barnes will forever be my favourite, he forever was evolving as a vocalist and I really hope he puts out a new Six feet album soon that redeems his original skill. Moral of this is Cannibal Corpse is and has always been taken too seriously, which is good because that's the Horror point, but the reality is that this band developed from the early Death Metal scene all the way to the most brutal band out, the Legacy will live on because these guys simply wanted to play music they enjoyed, and for others to enjoy aswell!
